Dr Charlie Burton has a background as a policy analyst on federal and state issues in Canberra, Sydney, and Hobart, where he now lives. Since transitioning, Charlie has taken on a role as an advocate for the trans and gender diverse community.

In that role Charlie has advocated and lobbied on issues as diverse as birth certificate reform, workplace discrimination protections and health services. Charlie is a board member of Working It Out and Equality Tasmania, and the community co-chair of the Tasmanian Department of Justice LGBTIQ+ Reference Committee. Charlie has two kids, two rabbits, two cats and a human partner.
