Dr Sharon Dane

Dr Sharon Dane is a social science researcher formerly at the University of Queensland. Sharon was a co-convenor of Australian Marriage Equality and later AME’s Queensland co-convenor.

Since joining Just.Equal Australia as a founding member, Sharon has coordinated a raft of research into the needs and priorities of the LGBTIQA+ community. This included a landmark survey in Ireland showing the negative impact of that country’s marriage equality referendum, and Australian research showing overwhelming opposition to a plebiscite. Sharon’s research for Just.Equal has also looked at issues as diverse as LGBTIQA+ election priorities and gay blood donation. Sharon lives in Brisbane with her wife Elaine.
