Shelly Argent seeks your help to end discrimination in faith-based organisations

Hi Everyone,

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!

IMG_3163.JPGWe all know the concern that religious discrimination becoming legislation in this country is a possibility.

A few days ago i was talking with people from Just.Equal and it was decided i would do a letter writing campaign similar to what i did a few years ago, when Tony Abbott was Prime Minister.

I remember I was sent 43kg of letters. And, we need to do this again on the issue of religious discrimination.

WILL YOU PLEASE HELP ME ACHIEVE THIS GOAL?

What I would like you to do:

1. You can just add your name to the letter below if you are not sure about what to say; or

2. You can write your own letter, but no obscenities thank you; or

3. You can write a similar letter to your Member of Parliament and State Senators;

When completed please:

1. Email them to me [email protected] ;and

2. Send and share to friends and family on as much social media as possible.

DON'T  ASSUME THIS WON'T HAPPEN, AND PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT DISCRIMINATION ISN'T WARM AND FUZZY, IT'S NASTY AND DELIBERATE.

Prime Minister of Australia
Hon. Anthony Albanese
Parliament House
Canberra
18th April, 2024

Dear Prime Minister

As the leader of this country, I am writing to you ask you to prohibit discrimination by religious schools and services.

Discrimination of any kind should never be condoned in this country. Including discrimination against LGBTIQ+ people in religious schools and services (like hospitals, employment agencies and disability services).

In this country all students should have the right to an education without experiencing bullying or discrimination.

Teachers and other staff should have the right to be employed on the basis of competence, not sexuality or gender identity.

Polls show the majority of Australians want laws that stop discrimination by religious schools and services.

Public money is given to religious schools and other services to support education, not promote religious ideologies.

People of faith should not be discriminated against, but neither should religious institutions have the right to discriminate against and persecute others.

In this world we are witnessing too much prejudice, based on hate and fear.

So, as a parent I ask you to please ensure Australia is a place of acceptance and equality for everyone, including our LGBTIQA+ children.

Yours sincerely
